Tough wrought iron meets soft fragrance: Mad et Len
Mad et Len continue this season with a range of new fragrances and candles for the modern home. The wrought iron exterior still sets these French candle makers ahead of the rest. The visual component of this collection draws us to discover the scent in its purest form. Each candle is hand numbered and made with old school artisanal techniques. It is exciting to watch these guys grow in front of out eyes. I remember the first edition Poivre Noir quite some seasons ago. The rugged aesthetics of the candle’s wrought iron containers, contrasts with luxurious spun brass or the sophisticated black glass used for the perfumes and home aromas. This season they introduce new amazing fragrances and scents for Autumn Winter 2011. Acajou, Petites Papiers, Bois de Sycomore are just a few of the new scents available this season.

The Single Man (behind the lens)
Tom Ford is opening two stores in Paris this year. After a series of high-gloss ads this past fall shot by Mert & Marcus, Ford took the camera back into his own hands for his Spring Summer 2012 campaign. The designer photographed models Mirte Maas and Mathias Bergh inside a Palm Springs, California private residence in the new ads.
His first store is set to open during this season SS12 in Francois 1ere district of Paris. Ford will join Givenchy, Balmain, Kilton and a host of other high end menswear retailers. For the moment his Parisian debut will only be a venture into Menswear.
The second store will be in Rue Saint Honore and will take up a 450 Meters squared space and will present ladies wear and cosmetics too.
Watch this space.
Game on Hermès
Hermès have come up with a classy game. Hand crafted from mahogany and rosewood each piece is finished in a matt surface. The board is crafted from a piece of ‘etoupe’ coloured Hermès leather that has been formatted with a geometric chess pattern. A very classy affair. This is one of many great items from their Spring Summer Collection 2012.
